Racing Team Mission Statement

 
The Bath County Solar Car Racing Team strives to provide a challenging science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) project-based learning (PBL) opportunity for Bath County High School students for the application of classroom STEM principles.  Additionally, we seek to foster an environment that develops strong analytical and problem solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, excellent communication skills, a desire for continuing education, creativity, logical thinking, teamwork, time management skills, resourcefulness, a sincere passion for improvement, and a commitment to serve others.
About Us
 

The goal of the Bath County Solar Car Racing Team is to plan, design, engineer, build, and race a roadworthy solar electric car in the National Solar Car Challenge July 2019 on the National Nascar Texas Motor Speedway in Dallas, Texas.  The Solar Cats, as the team is known, were founded in August of 2017 and is currently the first high school solar car racing team in the state of Kentucky.  The team fully understands the tremendous responsibility of being the first team from Kentucky to take on the challenge of designing, building, and racing a street legal solar car.  It is the hope that, when complete, this will be an example to many other schools in the state, and surrounding region of the United States. 

The Solar Cats wish to provide encouragement and guidance for any school that may wish to learn more about participating in the, Solar Car Challenge.  Additionally, it is ultimate goal that we will provide the catalyst that creates a state or region wide Solar Car Association for the education and training of high school students, while promoting the advancement of renewable energy research, automotive design and development, and development of the soft-skills necessary for successful transition to business and industry and/or post-secondary education, via a challenging and engaging STEM project-based learning.
